San Frani Mani....& A Tranny

Went to San Fransisco CA this weekend for a girls getaway.Beause we were going to a few more dressy functions...I opted for a more "conservative mani."

Since Konading, I have slowly began to push the line of what i consider "wearable." So, I used to opt for NO COLOR ( i know...BORING) and a french mani, the shorter the better. Now I am more open to color ( I still prefere color on the tips over a full nail.) So, Even though I went french...I had to Konad SOMETHING a little more special but still on the conservative. Here it is!

And here is the Tranny. I LOVED the head dress!!! Wanted to dream up a few CRAZY Konads and slap it all over thier nails! How fun would that be?!

Blue Petal Tips

I did these a while back...early this summer. Just now getting around to posting it. I wanted to try out a Konadicure with china glaze. Sassy is always using it to come up wit new designs.

I have to say that while I like this manicure, and the style of the "water mark" konad looks good on this mani.... I am not impressed with he strength of the imprint. The design isn't strong enough to qualify this as a "truly konad compatible" color. So, do experiment with China Glaze, but don't expect it to reveal a dark design.

And don't forget the toes! Actually I used a different plate for the toes, but using the same colors can make the two look cohesive. Because of my skin tone...I don't prefer the blue on my toes, not very flattering. But, perhaps it would look better on a lighter peachier complexion?
What you need: Plate M24, base color, I used China Glaze for Audry here. A nail art polish w/skinny brush, stamping color (china glaze) and a sheer blush (my franken)

The Steps:
1. Paint tips free hand from left to right in a horizontal motion
2. Stamp on image onto tips. Here you can choose a tip design, OR any design with a dense pattern.
3. Clean the smile line to remove extra polish & overlapping design.
4. paint sheer blush on the bottom 1/2 of nail.
5. cover smile line with a purple nail art polish, making a thin line

[NAIL] American French

We all familiar with French Manicure, easy, any pink nail polish as base coat then white nail polish as over the nail tips. But American French Manicure is almost the same except for the tips. For American French you can use any colour of nail polish for the nail tip.

This time, I will use gold nail polish for the tips. Too boring right, how about a little 3D flower? Before put on the top coat use white acrylic powder to create the simple 3D flower. I am still new to acrylic powder, looking forward for better work in the future mean need to have more practices

Stuff I used:

  • NailTek Nail Strengthener (Base Coat)
  • Essie Nail Polish in 546 (Room With A View)
  • Anna Sui Nail Art Color in 083 (Gold)
  • Essie Super Duper Top Coat
  • Nubar Acrylic Powder
  • Nubar Monomer
  • Sculpture Brush

I will use this design for Plusizekitten Nail Art Contest.

Joey

Frosted Fairy Fingertips......as my daughter called them.

These sparkly beauties elicited smiles & pure excitement from Alex (6). She said they were fairy nails, kind of like tinkerbell! I used a holographic glitter polish from Sally Hansen to bluff the smile line and add a touch of "sweetness" to this Konadicure. So you don't have to have a steady hand for this mani, or flat brush to clean your tips to a beautiful sharp smile line....just fake it & glitter it!!!
Not bad for a drug store find. Both the green and the holo sparkle are from Sally Hansen line found @CVS drugstore. I show it in a blurred picture above so you can see just how enchanting all that sparkle is! Oh and see the fairy on the thumb.
You will need image plate m35, a sheer blush, lime lights (opalescent green) & strobe light (sparkle) both from Salley Hansen, and finally a silver for the design.
How to:
1. Paint sheer blush over entire nail
2. paint your tips with 2 coats of green Lime Lights
3. Paint the sparkles horizontally over the smile line, this will fog the line and make the colors look like one graduates into the other.
4. stamp petal clusters on fingers 2-5 and stamp the fairy on your thumb.
OOOOOH just frosted fairy precious
AND FINALLY I FOUND THE SITE WHERE I COPIED THE BASE NAIL....HERES MY INSPIRATION

[NAIL] Ocean Breeze

Nail time again. I am a girl from East Coast of Malaysia. I always hang out with my sister or neighbour at the beach when I was a girl but living in city almost makes me forgot about the fun at the beach. This time let's do something blue like the ocean.

Here you go:

Nail polish I used:

Remind you about beach? Don't wait and plan for the next vocation!

LFW Skin Saviour!

There is a catch to being invited to all these fashion shows you know! We're calling it 'fashacne', a skin condition brought on by all of those early morning shows, late-night parties,  (oh and yes, the 'Lauderee macaroon' diet that we seem to be living on at the 'mo).  Thankfully we've found a solution! Well a quick fix anyway. Laura Mercier's Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser is a skin genius! A dab and a smear later and spots, dark circles (and that grey complexion tinge) are gone! You don't even need a mirror to apply it. Genius!

Short Curly Hair

Ohh...finally its holiday! A long weekend, I have been waiting for a rest after a busy month. The first thing I did after work is going to salon and gets my hair stylist - John to cut my hair. I need a hair cut a least once every month but this time it was almost two months so my hair style had run out of shape. No way to compromise with messy hair!!! "I need a haircut!" this is what hubby heard for the past one week.

As usual remain short hair although every time John will ask me "Do you want to keep it long?" he knows my answer "No". But this time we did some experiment thing, I asked them how about short curly hair. They said why not so we give a try, John did a little trim and perm my hair.

Tadaa!

I not use to this short curly hair style at the beginning but hubby told me I will get use to it.

Tell you something what we did is actually curl my hair using thong, not a permanent perm, I need to see how I look if I perm my hair. I like it but I think I can't maintain it if is a permanent perm, so I decided to get a thong and DIY at home. Beauty Fair coming soon so I will get one from there!

I have been thinking to get this kind of short curly hair style. It is a hit in Taiwan and Korea. Arhh...forget about it until I have a longer hair

Joey

FREE GIFT ALERT!

We find that GWP's (that's marketing lingo for gift-with-purchase items) are always a tad naff, but this shopper (that comes free with a 50ml bottle of DKNY's Be Delicious Scent from 23rd September) goes against that grain. Why? Pop-art-esque with a subtle-but-seen designer-label tag, it will surely score high in the style stakes!

Call 0870 034 2566 for more info or go to www.DKNYfragrances.com

DIP DYE...DO OR DON'T?

Following in the footsteps of Lady Ga Ga (and Julia Roberts!?!) Drew has black-tipped her tresses. It's attention-grabbing yes, but whether it's a style we'll be trying ourselves, time will tell!

Flats are back!

Can we just say how much we're loving the flats revival (and so are our chiropractors). We keep clocking these super-comfy Newbark shoes (above) on everyone including Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley and Kate Moss. We'd wear them with cropped skinny jeans and a Brteon top for post-Fashion Week downtime.

We've also got our eyes on Christian Louboutin's studded slippers - just need to find an affordable version. Au revoir platform skyscrapers!

Essie Lacy Not Racy

Hola!!! It has been long time I did not update my blog. Busy with work, it was my transition period in my existing company so I have been busy with works before I leave the company.

Here is the nail for this week. I am using Essie nail polish - Lacy Not Racy, a velvety vintage burgundy. Woohooo…I like this colour. Basically I like every colour as long as it look nice and suite my skin tones.

Joey

Little Leopard Rockstar Nails

This picture was taken a couple days after SHE CHIPPED THE TIPS ;(Last week was the first week of 1st grade!!!! HOORAY for Alex. After selecting her outfit, she wanted me to design some matching nails. She actually selected the gray color as the base. She wanted them to match her skirt. She also selected the fleur de lies to match the one on her shirt.
Here's her outfit. And a close up of her thumb nail with the matching fleur de lies.
I realized I never took a photo of the supplies, so I didn't design a page for that. I can try to to so later and edit this post.
This is a basic design.
1. Paint base coat
2. Apply stamp leopard print
3. Paint Tips. I used a nail art pen, they work THE BEST for little fingers french tips!
4. Stamp thumbs with Fleur
5. Add crystal to thumb, cenetr of fleur.

Your little diva has rock star nails!!!!

CHERYL'S SECRET MAKE-UP BUY

We were lucky enough to meet the gorgeous Cheryl Cole yesterday! A few select journo's (ahem, that's us!) were invited to quizz her about her new role as Ms Beauty Queen (aka the new face of L'Oreal Paris). After a natter over cupcakes (yes, she did eat one) and tea, she let us into a sneaky peak inside her make-up bag. And inside we spotted her new must-have new foundation buy:

"This is a recent obsession," she said. "I love the new applicator. Oh my god, I put it on in the car the other day when I was running late, and I thought let me just try that - it was on within two seconds. Why has no one ever made this before? I should’ve thought of it 'cos my dad is a painter and decorator. It gives very even coverage. I’m well impressed with that one."

Aaaah, don't you just love 'er!

Je M'apelle Bella

Bella Freud's cult beatnik knits are just the thing for trans-seasonal September. We love these new shots by Susie Bick complete with pop-coloured wigs.

File under "why didn't we think of this"

We have a problem. We love vintage suitcases but we don't know what to do with them. Here's an idea... make them into coffee tables! We love all the re-use/re-love ideas on this site - don't you?

Behold...The Birthday Nails!

The birthday nails. By birthday, I mean my mother in law came by to have me paint her nails for her birthday....not really a birthday design. She had me REMOVE the fish design, and redo some nails for the evening. I decided to hide a 66 in there since it was her 66th. She looked at me funny when I suggested it, but decided to go with it in her usual light hearted manner! She wanted something"happy". Nothing happier than polka dots and pink! Do you see the hidden 66?!

So, Here is what I used. A pink Essie color, Konad SP in black metalic & white. Plates m6 & m29.1. Apply Base coat

2.Apply Polks dote to outter tipson a diagonal

3. Layer double flower design over the polks dots, on a diagonal closer to the cuticle

4. Finally, add crystals to the center of flowers on an accent nail.

Something's Fishy Here!!!

Here are the fish nails I did after Hawaii. Never got the chance to upload them before leaving again. I was not in love with this look. I mean it was interesting to try, but not something that i would wear, or that stayed on my M-I-L very long.

I do like the coral colored seahorse though.

What I used was: M16, M27 Konad SP in white, metalic black, and pastel orange...which really is a coral color

1. Paint base color

2. Stamp bubles 2X on each nail, one @ the cuticle & one at the tips.

3. Alternate variose designs as you wish on each nail. Using the bubbles on each nail as a base brings unity to the design, allowing it to all "match" even while using different colors & designs.

I didn't photo each step when I did her nails, so....no step by step demo. But really, its all just layering freestyle, so you get the point?
