The Rachel Zoe Collection

Rachel is having several moments at once.

WWD does have a way of setting the scene:

"The elevator doors open, and, just like that, the relative calm of a Monday morning is destroyed by a miniature blonde and her 20-person entourage of assistants, hair and makeup and a Bravo TV camera crew. Production on season four of “The Rachel Zoe Project” is in full swing and, behold, a crucial plotline is about to unfold — the debut of the Rachel Zoe collection, Zoe’s first real design effort done in a deal with Li & Fung, which WWD reported in June."

"Among the camera team is her husband, Rodger Berman, president of Rachel Zoe Inc., trailing his wife with his own point-and-shoot, as if capturing the birth of his first child. “It’s always good to have footage,” he says. Maybe it’s a dry run for the real deal: Season four’s other big story arc, a spoiler for no one, is Zoe’s pregnancy. (Also, look out for Mandana, a leggy brunette who seems cast as Brad’s replacement.)"

Jesus Christ. Even in print, Rodger's all BABYBABYBABY. We are primed to hate Mandana.

Anyway, this is all to showcase Rachel's for really-reals line of clothing. Let's take a look, poodles.

Like Vicki Beckham, she is wisely choosing standard and basic as the way to launch her line. She's a stylist, not a designer, so it makes sense that her clothes look good, but a bit indistinguishable from a lot of clothes on the racks. It's her name that's going to sell these pieces and it's a wise choice to keep the clothes simple, classic and pretty. Over time (as with Vicki B), her name will then become synonymous with stylish and wearable pieces. We love the white trench but we really love that plaid coat. The red dress is very cute and we like the idea of a windowpane plaid suit for women but we're not entirely sold on the flared legs.
